550TH ANNIVERARY OF THE BRITH OF SIKHI’S FOUNDERFOUNDEROF SIKHISM

In celebration of the 550th Anniversary of his birth, wehonor Guru Nanak (1469-1539), who was the founder and First Guru of the Sikhfaith. Sikhism is the world’s fifthlargest religion, currently with over 25 million adherents. Learn more about the life, words and travelsof this historical figure whose principles resonate globally today.
This event complements the exhibition Guru Nanak: Founderof Sikhism on view at Phoenix Art Museum, August 17, 2019 – March 29, 2020in The Khanuja Family Sikh Heritage Gallery.

3:00 – 3:30 pm - GuruNanak and The Muslim Community of His Time (including highlights of the famousPrincess Bamba Collection); speaker - Anjum Javaid, Curator, Lahore Fort, Pakistan.
3:30 – 4:00 pm – Discussion and Q&A from the audience,moderated by Dr. Janet Baker.
4:00 – 5:00 pm – Refreshments in the Museum Cafe and Viewingof the Exhibition in The Khanuja Family Sikh Heritage Gallery.

This year’s after-party event is inspired by the first major exhibition of racing cars presented at Phoenix Art Museum: Legends of Speed. The exhibition features more than 20 legendary cars by Maserati, Mercedes, Alfa Romeo, Ford, and more. It also showcases an unprecedented collection of cars driven by some of the greatest drivers in the history of racing, including A.J. Foyt, Dan Gurney, and Stirling Moss.
