In-gallery artist talk with Artist Grant winner, James Taylor.
Photographer Taylor James works to educate others through documentation and artwork. Subjects within the landscape center on the U.S. - Mexico border and locations in the Sonoran desert where migrants have died or found rescue, as well as personal possessions and remains discovered at these sites. James came to Arizona from the East Coast and assisted Samaritan volunteers as they provided food, water, and aid to those in the desert. As he educated himself on the realities of the situation, James found a passion in documenting these events and informing others of this critical issue through the creation of art. His photographs provide a chilling, honest perspective on a polarizing topic, and aim to change the way the Americans view the border. Taylor James graduated from Arizona State University with a Master’s in Fine Art.
